A 25-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN FOR A BOY, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
circa 1840, with rebrowned octagonal to sixteen-sided to round slightly shortened 24 3/8in. barrel, bead fore-sight, moulded bands at the intersection, twin white-metal lines at breech, scroll engraved long top-tang, border, scroll and gamescene engraved back-action lock, birdseye maple half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture and probable original ramrod, 39 1/4in. overall, weight approximately 3 1/4lbs.
